October BIOBLITZ!

The Annual BioBlitz returns to Plymouth this year! The BioBlitz is an annual biological survey event that the Marine Biological Association host every year and is great way to get to know some of the Great British Marine Life we have here in the UK.

We attend as volunteer divers to conduct an inwater survey of the shore off Plymouth Waterfront (actual entry point location TBC). The aim of the game is to ID and spot as many species as possible. If you are unsure on your sponges from your seaweed, take a slate and describe or draw your critters and the guys at the MBA will help you ID what you have seen!

Afterwards we will have a club dinner at a local restaurant in the Barbican. Usually Arribas. Watch this space for more infomation!

PORTHKERRIS WEEKEND  2017

Our first trip of the year is to our favourite Cornish location Porthkerris. We will be camping over the weekend so you can do as many shore dives at Drawna Rock as you like, which will be included in the cost of your camping.

We usually travel down Friday afternoon set up camp and start the weekend with some lovely local fish and chips. Saturday, go diving on the boat, evening BBQ and maybe a drink or 2. Sunday morning shore dive if you're not to hungover, pack up and go home via St Keverne for a pub lunch.

RED SEA LIVEABOARD 15th Nov - 22nd Nov 2014

The Red Sea has long been known as THE place to go for world class diving and most divers agree the best way to visit those breath-taking sites is on board a luxury liveaboard. That's why Aquanauts are heading back to the Red Sea for this years club trip.

We will be traveling on board Whirlwind, one of Scuba Travels elite liveaboards and the itinerary we have selected is Northern Wrecks and Reefs.

The Wrecks and Reefs itinerary gets to some of the most iconic dive sites Egypt has to offer, as well a few of lesser known beauties. Tiran and Ras Mohammed are rightly two of the best known areas for diving in the Northern Red Sea. The coral gardens play host to hundreds and thousands of candy coloured fish. The deep walls of Tiran mirror the startling drop offs of Ras Mohammed. Blue spotted sting rays, eagle rays and manta abound. Cruising past Shark and Yolanda, Wrecks and Reefs takes in the Alternatives, Small Crack and Bluff Point before moving onto the wrecks.

The Northern Red Sea is a wreck diver's delight. The almighty Thistlegorm is the setting for unforgettable diving, day or night. The Kingston, Dunraven, Giannis D and Carnatic only add to the excitement. These 19th and 20th century wrecks have, over the course of time, formed artificial reefs but each is still packed with unique artefacts that tell their story.

Wrecks and Reefs is the ideal itinerary whatever your experience level. A popular route for those new to the Red Sea, the varied depths across dive sites suit all abilities - from novice to tekkie. Visibility is crystal clear and the warm blue waters are perfect for even the longest dive times. Water temperatures typically range between 20 and 28 degrees throughout the year.

No matter you're experience level we'd love to have you join us on this trip. We are even offering an option for people to finish their Open Water course with us after completing the pool and theory in the UK.

We are hoping to offer photography workshops throughout the week, more information on this will follow.

The cost of the trip is £1125 and includes the following:
7 nights accommodation full board (twin share)
Up to 21 dives with 12ltr tanks and weights
Marine park fees
Flights from Gatwick and Egyptian transfers
Option to complete additional training with AQ Inst on-board

Its going to be an awesome adventure so make sure you don't miss out, deposit is £250 and will ensure you get on this fab Aquanauts holiday.

Previous Trips and Holidays

TENERIFE CLUB HOLIDAY 19th - 26th October 2012

The Aquanauts club holiday for 2012 was to the beautiful volcanic island of Tenerife. This is a ideal destination for both divers and non divers alike as there is so much to do both in and out of the water. Tenerife has a selection of dive sites of differing depths and difficulty levels, something to suit everyone. Many sites have dramatic volcanic rock formations such as basalt walls, swim-throughs or caves. Others are simply abundant with marine life, such as shoals of roncadores, sting rays, angel sharks or resident turtles.

PORTHKERRIS WEEKEND 8th - 10th June 2012

We went back to Porthkerris again for our annual club trip on the 8th - 10th June 2012. We booked the Cat and the Kitten for 2 dives on Saturday 9th June, with shore diving taking place on the Friday night and Sunday morning.

GOZO CLUB HOLIDAY 14th - 21st September 2011

Gozo offers some of the best diving sites, not only in the Maltese Islands, but to some extent even in the world. There is a wealth of marine life and the island's coast displays a variety of bays, coves and sea inlets with natural caves of all shapes and sizes. The striking topographic structures continue under the water with an abundance of caves, chimneys and swim-throughs. These include the dramatic Azure Window and the Blue Lagoon, the vast Cathedral Cave which is illuminated by an alluring spectrum of blue and the spectacular Double Arch forming the entrance to a deep grassy canyon.

WEYMOUTH SUBMARINE TRIP 2nd - 3rd July 2011

This is a deeper wreck trip for the more adventurous club members. The plan is to dive the famous M2 and Sidon wrecks both in depths of around 35m. The trip is running out of Weymouth and there are options to camp or stay in a B&B. Cost is £40 per day for the boat and this should be a very popular trip, ask Kirsty for more details.

PORTHKERRIS WEEKEND 25th - 26thth June 2011

Porthkerris's Little Kitten was booked for 2 dives on the Saturday, with shore diving taking place on the Friday night and Sunday morning.

LUNDY ISLAND WEEKEND 31st July - 1st August 2010

Another fabulous trip for the Aquanauts club. Lundy lies off the coast of North Devon, where the Atlantic ocean meets the Bristol Channel with nothing between it and America, a granite outcrop, three and a half miles long and half a mile wide. In the hubbub of the modern world it is a place apart, peaceful and unspoilt. The Lundy trip still has spaces, so get booked onto this popular weekend. The boat will be leaving on Saturday morning for 2 dives around Lundy and will then drop us off on the Island for an evening of camping. We will then be collected from Lundy the following morning for another 2 fabulous boat dives and possibly the chance to see a seal or two before we head off home, see Derek for details of this trip.

Red Sea Liveaboard 26th Nov - 3rd Dec 2010

Come along and join us on Aquanauts 2010 Red Sea trip on the luxury Liveaboard M/Y Blue Horizon. The itinerary we have selected is North and Brothers which will allow us to dive some of the most infamous wrecks in the Red Sea. We will be based on Blue O Two's award winning vessel Blue Horizon which is one of the largest most luxurious liveaboards around. With space for 26 guests all accommodated in en suite, air conditioned cabins, each with state of the art tv, dvd and cd players and mini bar. More information can be found on the forum and is also available in the shop. Alternatively why not visit Blue O Two's website for more details on this amazing holiday http://www.blueotwo.com/

THAILAND, DEC 2008 10 days £1200 TBA
