The Scubapro Mk17 A700 Regulator is ideally suited to coldwater diving with full metal construction and sealed first stage. Regualtors are typically made from plastic which makes them lightweight and highly durable however, plastic is not the best material at dissapating heat. The A700 Second Stage changes this by being made entirely from metal, this disspates heat very well keeping the internal components from freezing and possibly causing a freeflow. To weight down the A700 is extremely compact and is very comfortable in the mouth. To further mitigate freeflows the A700 is fitted with a VIVA venturi control, this alters the way air moves around the inside of the regulator and helps to keep in from free flowing. A cracking resistance control knob allows the effort required to breathe from the regulator to be adjusted, typically it can be left on the lightest setting however, if the reg is not in use such as back up or stage reg then in can be wound tight to further limit freeflows.
The Mk17 First Stage is a balance, environmentally sealed, diaphragm design which is ideally suited to cold water diving. The sealed design means that no water can get to the regulators internal mechnism which could cause contamination or damage the regulator. The balanced design allows the Mk17 to give an exceptionally smooth breathe in all water temperatures and conditions. 4 medium pressure ports and 2 high pressure ports give a wide range of hose routing options.
