The Halcyon Pathfinder 400 is considered the standard for use on deep, long exploration dives and is built to withstand the most difficult diving conditions on the planet. Primarily designed for laying line into a cave or a wreck so that the exit can be found even with no lights and zero visibility the Pathfinder can also be used to deploy SMB's from extreme depth if needed. The design of the Pathfinder is a simple as possible to reduce the chance of the reel birds nesting to an absolute minimum, small engineering tolerances ensure that there is no way for the line to become trapped around the centre screw rendering the entire reel useless.
The handle of the Halcyon Pathfinder reel is machined from aluminium which is very resistant to drops, impact and exposure to water. The main spool is made from delrin which is completely impervious to water and can flex slightly allowing it to resist impacts well, it also provides a good amount of friction for fingers allowing tension to be kept on the line as it is being let out.
