The Suunto Zoop can be set for either standard ‘Air mode’ or for advanced divers ‘Nitrox mode’. The Zoop is set automatically to Air settings for recreational divers.
However once you have completed a Nitrox training qualification you can adjust the settings to make Nitrox dives by following the steps listed below;
Step 1 Access the menu mode by pressing the MODE button
Step 2 Select SET followed by MODEL
Step 3 Select Nitrox mode and remember to set the correct oxygen percentage of gas in your cylinder to ensure the nitrogen, oxygen calculations are correct.
The Suunto Zoop will then calculate your oxygen and nitrox levels adjusting accordingly throughout your dive according to the values added.
REMEMBER
Do not dive with a cylinder of enriched air if you have not ‘personally’ verified your tanks contents and entered the values into your dive computer.
Also note that all Suunto dive computers will not compute fractional percentages.
The Zoop will revert from any nitrox mix set back to air at the beginning of a new dive series or if set, but not dived for 2 hours - always check your settings prior to entering the water.
For more information on setting The Zoop to Nitrox settings please refer to the online Suunto Zoop users manual.
