Bottom Timers & Mounts

A DIR / GUE Diver takes time to learn their dive tables and then dives safely using a Bottom Timer. Without a reliance on dive computers and with the ability to calculate their own deco on the fly there is no need to use a dive computer. Plans are made in advance and with experience a dive team can learn to adjust these underwater as necessary. DIR divers often have a bottom timer on their wrist, and perhaps one spare if doing a major dive. They will have discussed the minimum deco and turn pressures on the surface, and simply run their dive staying aware of their average depth.

The most popular models are the Uwatec Bottom Timer, the Liquivision Xen and the Aladin 2g. They are often housed in a Deep Sea Supply Mount in order to avoid the use of straps.
