Getting To Know Apeks: Technically Inspired Dive Gear

Most divers will know a thing or two about Apeks. Known as the UK’s ‘technically inspired’ diving brand, Apeks is at the forefront of diving innovation and technology. Though this scuba diving brand is probably best known for its dive regulators, these are just the start when it comes to what they offer.

If you want to know more about what makes Apeks so special, you’ve come to the right place. We like to think we know a thing or two about Apeks here at Aquanauts, having built a great relationship with their team over the years. Here’s why we’re proud to stock Apeks products:

Founded On Friendship

Formed in the mid-1970s by Ken Smith Ainscough and Eric Partington, friendship is at the core of Apeks’ foundations. The two mates joined forces in a garage in the North of England and started with small projects before diving into their first regulator in 1978. The friendship has certainly expanded in recent years and the boys rapidly outgrew their garage space, but Apeks has always stayed close to its roots and remains at home in Lancashire even today. They are now part of the Aqualung family, but the core values of shared knowledge and expertise are still very much alive, resulting in Apeks products being a firm favourite for many divers today.

Built For A Challenge

Apeks have certainly earned their ‘technically inspired’ tagline. The production facilities at the Apeks factory are world-class, and the brand’s close-knit roots mean that they have total control of each aspect of the manufacturing process. This means that Apeks products are really built for a challenge, and we’re not just talking regulators here. Apeks dive computers, gauges and BCDs are all at the very forefront of modern innovation in diving, so it’s no wonder that they are the preferred supplier for the military and many emergency services in the UK.

Award-Winning Products

Since launching the lightest regulator in existence in 2009, Apeks have got themselves a bit of a reputation for breaking boundaries and winning awards. Regulators like the ATX have been featured in many depth records around the world and continue to win awards for their quality and durability. It’s safe to say, if you’re looking for a dive regulator that you can count on, you need not look much further than an Apeks product.

Our Top Apeks Products

Apeks XTX200 Regulator Set

No list of the top Apeks products would be complete without mentioning one of their award-winning regulators. We stock a huge range of Apeks regulators here at Aquanauts, including first and second stage regulators as well as complete regulator sets. One of our favourites is Apeks XTX200 Regulator Set which includes the flagship XTX200 regulator along with the XTX40 Octopus and required hoses. This super lightweight regulator is a great all-rounder and highlights everything that Apeks do best, with a robust construction and diver-first controls.

Apeks DSX Dive Computer

When it comes to dive computers, few are as technologically advanced as Apeks’. Their newest dive computer, the DSK, is billed as one of a kind and it’s easy to see why. Cutting edge features include a CCR mode and induction charge system that make the Apeks dive computer easy-to-use regardless of your diving experience.

Apeks RK3 HD Fins

It’s not just Apeks regulators that are popular with the military - their fins are also the preferred choice for many serving personnel. The RK3 range of fins are Apeks’ best known, with the RK3 HD fins being the latest in this innovative product line. These ones are made from a higher density model than standard fins, making them particularly suitable for high-performance drysuit diving.

Apeks VX1 Dive Mask

Apeks’ technical expertise is clear even in their diving essentials, just take the VX1 dive mask as an example. Apeks masks are built to perform in the way you actually want your mask to perform, with a lightweight and frameless design and great optical clarity. You’ll certainly be able to see spectacular marine life with the VX1 and need not worry about fit fatigue as the frameless construction minimises pressure during a long dive.

Apeks VX2 Dive Mask

However, if you prefer the fit and feel of a framed dive mask, Apeks have got you covered too. The VX2 dive mask is a highly reliable bit of kit that is incredibly lightweight despite being super durable. You can expect optimum comfort and vision from this Apeks dive mask, as the silicone skirt molds to your face shape and you can swap out the lenses with ease.
