PADI OPEN WATER COURSE - Learn how to safely explore our incredible underwater world and become an Ocean Advocate to protect and heal our Oceans
You can chose whether you'd like to become an Ocean Supporter, Protector or Defender as part of your PADI Open Water Course.
All PADI courses come with PADI e-learning so you can start your adventure today and complete all your theory at home. Courses include full kit hire, pools sessions and 4 sea dives (Supporter) or 5 sea dives (Protector and Defender).
The PADI Open Water Course with Aquanauts uses the PADI e-learning portal so the theory is all completed online and we are reducing the physical materials needed to teach this course. This not only reduces our environmental impact but allows you the student to complete the theory in the comfort of your own home at a time that suits you.
So it is time towake up that explorer inside you! The world is over 70% oceans, and via the sport of SCUBA Diving, you can be a visitor there. Like an astronaut of the seas! Learn to fully see and understand the planet that we live on!
There is so much to see, to experience, and via the PADI OPEN WATER COURSE we can take you there. It is your driving license to the oceans!
The course is designed to take you from being non-experienced to a confident underwater explorer over 3 days of professional training.
Once the course is completed, you will then be able to go diving around the world, with a dive buddy, hire equipment, and go to a maximum depth of 18 meters.
Your view on life certainly changes after you complete this course. So what happens on the course?
DAY ONE - Open Water theory review at the dive centre plus Project Aware Lecture and Pool Sessions in our private heated pool in Derriford
DAY TWO - Two Open Water Sea Dives from the Shore plus Enriched Air Review for Defender Students
DAY THREE - Two Open Water Sea Dives plus Drysuit Speciality Dive for Protector and Defender Students
IMPORTANT NOTES - All participants need to complete the PADI Medical Statement, if you answer yes to ANY of the medical questions you will need to get the PADI Medical Statement signed off by a GP to agree you are fit to dive. It can be found on the link below.
It is highly recommended that you buy your own mask and snorkel prior to starting the course. This is for hygiene reasons, and because a perfectly fitting mask will not leak under water. Plus, this will be your mask for the rest of your diving journey! The best way to choose a mask is to pop into the shop and try them on, to find which best seals to the shape of your face.

would really highly reccomend aquanauts , even so i joined the club
The staff are welcoming and friendly and explain everything that will happen going forward from the online learning to the open water dive. Which I have not yet completed.
I needed to complete my PADI open water to attend my HSE commercial divers course, with very little notice Aquanauts went above and beyond to get me booked in the following week. Thoroughly enjoyed the course due to the fantastic instructors I had, Libby and Antony. Very patient as I struggled with a couple of things and made sure I was fully happy and competent in what they were teaching before we moved on to other things. Great experience and 100% recommend Aquanauts to anyone who wishes to to take there courses. Thank you for getting me started in my new diving career.
Had a superb weekend on the open water dives. Great weather, ideal locations, and superb instruction. Looking forward to the AOW next month, if I remember to book it in time.
