Aquanauts' Top Scuba Diving Brands: Introducing Scubapro

Deep down you want the best from your scuba diving equipment, but with so many brands available, knowing which to go for can be a tricky decision. Finding kit that supports optimum performance and is built to last is vital and that is exactly what you get from Scubapro. Let’s take a look at what makes this brand so special…

Why Choose Scubapro?

Scubapro was founded in 1963 by Hustav Dalla Valle and Dick Bonin, making 2023 Scubapro’s 60th anniversary year. Since their launch, they have been the pioneers of scuba diving equipment design, ‘the industry’s gold standard for innovation, performance, reliability and durability’. Some of their equipment is so well designed, that there has been no need to redesign it from its original model!

Scubapro caters for a wide variety of needs and interests, from the new diver, the experienced tech diver, to the snorkeller or swimmer! Their iconic brand is well recognised and respected, Scubapro gear being made FOR divers BY divers.

High Manufacturing Standards

The Scubapro MK2 Regulator was released in 1963, and was so successful and proved so reliable that it set a performance standard that was so far unseen in the industry. 60 years on, the MK2 regulator is still in production today with only minor modifications to the original, thus proving that Scubapro’s designs are so good, there is no need to change them, even with breakthroughs in dive equipment!

Another testament to this statement is the Scubapro Jet Fin. In 1965, Scubapro proposed a solution to the problem of fin design opposing propulsion, causing diver fatigue. The Scubapro Jet Fin was the first fin to include ventilation in its design, reducing drag, increasing thrust and improving overall efficiency. Again, this flagship product is still in production, unaltered from its original design and is a firm favourite with military and technical divers. The design of many of the new fins from different suppliers is undoubtedly based on the original Scubapro Jet Fin, making it a tried and tested winner.

Environmentally Conscious

Scubapro are committed to developing environmentally conscious solutions wherever possible and protecting the ocean that we live and work in. They are the first supply to provide an alternative to the environment-damaging neoprene, which, due to its indestructible nature, causes a huge threat to our planet. Yulex is made from rubber tree plants and not only offers maximum comfort and thermal protection, but you can sleep more easily knowing it doesn’t pose such a threat to the environment.

Scubapro are working diligently to ensure their packaging is either recycled and recyclable, or made for long-term use, like their durable and handy mask boxes. This way, not only the scuba equipment but the packaging can be used and reused for years to come.
