PADI Divemaster

If you love diving and want to share your experiences with others the PADI Divemaster course is for you. The Divemaster course is your first professional diving course on the PADI Pro ladder. Working closely with our staff and instructors you will learn the ins and outs of the diving industry, fine-tune your diving skills, improve your rescue skills, learn how to anticipate and problem-solve and become a role model for divers everywhere.

How does the Internship work with us?

To start you will sit down with us and have an interview. Don't worry we won't make you wear formal clothes. This is where we will get to know you and see if you are suitable for the internship. For the time you are with us, you are classed as staff and represent us. What we expect from you. 30 days of your time (45 for Rescue and DM) and an additional 10 for DSD Leader. This is very flexible but we would like 2.5 days minimum a month. On the days that you would work you will be expected to:

• Rescue for the instructor while teaching
• Shore cover
• Crewing on our boat OUTCAST
• Assist in the shop
• Conduct discover scuba sessions with the instructors

Prerequisites:

• 18 years old
• PADI Rescue Diver
• 40 logged dives
• CPR + First Aid within 24 months
• Medical (HSE Medical for internship or PADI Medical signed by GP for non-interns) - links for medicals Book HSE Medical student options available or PADI Medical Statement

What You Receive

So when you book onto your PADI Divemaster Internship you will receive your Divemaster Crew pack which contains; PADI Instructor Manual, Divemaster Manual, Divemaster Slates.

Course Details

There are 3 sections to the Divemaster course; Knowledge Development, 9 chapters covering what you need to know how to expand your knowledge base by reading around the subject using the Encyclopaedia of Recreational Diving and other materials; Practical Application, the teaching and assisting aspect of the course. Assist in teaching and helping divers overcome obstacles, refresh their skills and guide divers in open water giving them confidence and great memories; Fitness and Stamina; it does take a certain physical fitness to be a Divemaster so there are timed swims, snorkels and stress tests involved. Final qualifying dives are completed from a very large, comfortable hard boat, with a rear diver lift to make getting in and out while wearing equipment very easy. We also supply tea, coffee or hot chocolate throughout your day.

DSD Leader

DSD Leader is a bonus course for Divemasters allowing them to lead Discover SCUBA Diving sessions in confined water without the indirect supervision of an instructor. It can be booked by already qualified PADI Divemasters or book as an add-on your Internship/Divemaster Course to do your DSD Leader whilst doing your Divemaster Course. The DSD Leader Course will have you shadow our instructors running our DSD sessions and attending some mock workshops before under instructor supervision getting you to run your own giving you hands-on experience with real students. This course is a great stepping stone for Divemasters hoping to progress up to Instructor in the future, helping build those vital skills. It is also a great choice for Divemasters looking to travel as the more you can do the more likely you'll find work.
