FAW teaches participants how to respond to life-threatening emergencies. The course focuses on primary care through a combination of knowledge development, skill development and realistic scenario practice to make sure participants have the confidence in their ability to provide care when emergency situations arise. Primary Care (CPR) skills taught in this course:

Scene Safety Assessment Universal Precautions - Communicable Disease Protection, including barrier use, Primary Assessment, Rescue Breathing, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Conscious and Unconscious Obstructed Airway Management, Serious Bleeding Management, Shock Management and Spinal Injury Management

The use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is included, and additional modules such as Emergency Oxygen use, EpiPen training and paediatric first aid can also be selected by booking though this link: https://www.aquanauts.co.uk/collections/first-aid/products/efr-first-aid-at-work-additional-modules

Secondary Care (first aid) covers injuries or illnesses that are not immediately life threatening. Participants focus on secondary assessment and first aid through knowledge development, skill development and realistic scenario practice.

Injury Assessment
Illness Assessment
Bandaging
Splinting for Dislocations and Fractures

For booking a renewal course you must still hold a valid FAW certificate at the time when the course ends. If you complete the renewal within the last month of your current certificate your new expiry date will be 3 years from the expiry of your previous certificate.
