Halcyon is known as a provider as innovative guideline solutions and the Defender Pro line of spools in no exception. Defender Pro spools build on the ultimate simplicity of a spool but add unique features make them even more versatile and easy to use. Similar to Defender spools Defender Pro spools are made from Delrin which is extremely hard wearing and is not porous, making it possibly the best material for use in diving conditions. In comparison to Defender spools, or even most spools on the market, Defender Pro spools have a solid centre that reduces the overall size of the spool making for easier storage and portability while still holding a suitable amount of line. The solid centre also stops the risk of a finger getting caught and causing injury.

The Easy Grip adapter is probably the most outstanding feature of the Defender Pro spool as it provides enhanced operational uses. It allows line to easily be payed out when used for line laying or SMB deployment and it also provides a comfortable handle that can either be free spooling or locked. For example, the Easy Grip adapter can be undone to allow free spooling when a SMB is deployed, it can the be locked off and a double ender and the Easy Grip adapter can be used to safely hold the spool as the other hand is used to wind in the line. The Easy Grip adapter can be removed completely if so desired, allowing a Defender Pro spool to be used in the same manner as a traditional spool.
